t'internet & art

How do my dirty oven mitts suddenly look so beautiful at the click of a button?

So what I have been thinking about a lot over the past week is how much technology has changed the way we perceive the world. The dreamy half visualized fragments we have to painstakingly grasp and make tangible while frantically sketching or painting while pulling all the creative juice out before our imaginations bump into something else can now be reproduced with the click of a button and the instant effects added by various software packages.

The reason I have been thinking about this is due to the introduction of an iphone into my life, yes yes, years after the rest of the western world has jumped on the blackberry or iphone bandwagon I too have eventually followed...And I am in love! I do think it's sad that it's no longer acceptable to check your emails just once a day, but I also think it's fascinating how the world shrinks once you're in front of a computer. There is a limitless fountain of knowledge and beauty at our fingertips and like many others I find myself hooked!

So my musing for this week is how does this affect artists and the way we work? Just like the introduction of photography resulted in the birth of impressionism and other expressionistic art forms, how is art being revolutionized by sketching apps, google images, Internet sales etc?

I found a pretty good article about it here you might find interesting...
